Process versus Product
How does the act of creation (or the process by which we create) relate to the value of the end product, the creation itself? Many will say that it is the end result - the completed work and the desirability therein - that gives art worth. Others argue that by better understanding the process (and the skill involved) we add merit and value.
I wonder what collectors and buyers of digital fine art value most?

Artist Comments:
"I usually use the monitor screen as a canvas without a previous idea. When the first trace images begin to appear I give them a sense of purpose. Then I join other elements of my daily life: what I see, what I hear, into the artwork. There is always a distance that transforms my paintings in curious and bizarre realities. My images seem to be small dreams which often coincide with life -- nowadays life is fragmentary, strange and unexpected "
"I believe I paint as a "crazy child". But I'm not longer a child, nor so crazy. It's only an image that is good for me to paint."
"My pictures have a chaos that is organized thanks to the colour. Everything seems to respond to a certain imbalance or, in the best of cases, to an unstable balance. They respond to their own logic. Images that are born from the daily life which are distorted until what is known becomes weird."
"The festive colours deceive the spectator. If the images were monochrome, they would show an anguish which is present underneath."
Visual Artist,
Curatorial Observations:
Braier’s work is raw and genuine. It is an artful blend of digital hand-craft and software effect resulting in a collection of collage-like compositions energized with feeling and a richness of thought. Certainly “curious and bizarre realities” are exposed on an eclectic pallet of unusual shapes and color combinations. Don’t mistake primitiveness for lack of intent or skill, both are plentiful in Braier's creations.
No One Is Original…Right? The discussion continues…
“…nobody creates completely in a void….”
Then of course there is what I like to refer to as “accidental originality.” A process by which we accidentally stumble upon a unique creation or concept simply by accident. One may see in the piece representation of an inferred image but it is in truth a random happening of unexpected circumstance. Not rooted in knowledge.
Is the manipulation, distortion, reconfiguring, stylizing… of an image using another artist’s base work (such as a public photograph) a failure to be original?
The digital fine artist, Ansgard Thomson shares:
“It is true that many digital artists think that using a seed image and create different interpretation can replace an original work created with computer tools . Many people can copy what they see and create original works the same can be done with digital works.
Reproducing something that exist in another media by the same artist can not be an original . Aiming to create original digital images should be the aim of every digital artist.”
